A year later, is our security and that of our children sufficiently taken into account?
The 22 March will mark a sad anniversary, that of the attacks at Zaventem and in the Maelbeek metro station, which caused so much physical and psychological damage. Some of our colleagues were among the victims of those barbaric acts. We wish to reconfirm our sympathy for, and solidarity with, all the victims and their families.
The Federation associates itself with all those celebrating international women’s day.
We have the pleasure to offer you this virtual sprig of mimosa, the floral symbol of women’s day, but 8 March is not to be mixed up with Saint Valentine’s day:
it is a day for recalling and standing up for women’s rights.

The FFPE fully associates itself with the decision taken at the highest level to pay a solemn tribute to Chancellor Helmut Kohl on Saturday 1 July in Strasbourg.
There is no need to retrace Helmut Kohl's personal and political journey to understand that he was a true statesman, not only for Germany but for Europe as a whole!

Opportunities for 55+ colleagues: the FEDERATION's proposals
Sooner or later, all the institutions' officials and many other staff are going to join the
"55+" group. The institution should therefore make the best use of their talents
throughout their careers: not just in its own interest, but also to promote job-satisfaction
(the two goals are mutually supportive).
The Federation wishes to celebrate 9 May 2017, Europe Day.
It supports the values underlying European integration.
As a result, the Federation expects the Commission to launch a step forward based on an explicit clarification of the European project that can garner popular support.
In this year marking 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome, participation in the Europe Day celebrations and recalling the spirit and vision underlying Robert Schuman's Declaration of 9 May 1950 make even more sense.
